Delivering functional, durable, and compliant industrial spaces across the UK
WHL Projects designs, refurbishes, and constructs industrial and warehouse units for developers, logistics operators, manufacturers, and local authorities. Whether it’s a new-build steel portal frame, an internal refurbishment, or a full façade replacement on an occupied distribution centre, we deliver safe, practical, and high-performing industrial buildings tailored to operational requirements.
Scope of works
We cover every element of industrial construction and refurbishment, including:
Our approach is based on efficient planning and close coordination with client operations. We frequently work within live facilities, phasing construction to maintain logistics and minimise downtime.
WHL Projects provides full design-and-build packages using cold-rolled steel or hot-rolled portal-frame systems, tailored to span, loading and mezzanine requirements. We handle connections, fire protection and load-testing through our engineering partners at WHL Surveying & Engineering, regulated by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE).
External envelopes are delivered using composite or twin-skin cladding systems from leading manufacturers such as Tata, Kingspan, Euroclad and CA Group. These systems are non-combustible, fully tested to BS EN 13501, and designed to meet Approved Document B and L2 for fire and thermal performance.
All structural steelwork and cladding fixings are CE-marked and installed to manufacturer torque settings. QA checklists are signed off for every bay and elevation.
Warehouse slabs are constructed using laser-screeded reinforced concrete with dry-shake hardeners or resin finishes to achieve specified flatness tolerances (FM2 or better). We manage expansion joints, load-transfer dowels and curing regimes to ensure a crack-free surface ready for racking or forklift traffic.
Where existing slabs require upgrade, we carry out grinding, joint repair and topping applications to restore performance.
We integrate mechanical, electrical and sprinkler installations during shell construction to reduce interface issues later in the programme. All electrical works are NICEIC-certified, mechanical installations are Gas Safe-registered, and fire systems comply with BS 5839 and BS 5306. WHL Projects coordinates third-party commissioning to deliver complete as-built documentation and warranties.
Industrial sites present unique safety risks—high-level work, heavy plant and overlapping client operations. We establish segregated access routes, exclusion zones and permit-to-work systems before mobilisation. All lifting operations follow LOLER 1998 and are overseen by Appointed Persons and qualified slinger/signallers.
Environmental controls address dust, waste segregation and runoff protection. We maintain compliance with the Considerate Constructors Scheme and ISO 14001 principles.
All WHL Projects operations are governed by ISO-aligned quality, safety and environmental systems. We are a member of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), and our structural partner, WHL Surveying & Engineering, provides RICS/IStructE oversight for every structural and load-bearing element. Together, these credentials give clients total confidence in our technical governance and delivery capability.
